New to Web4

  • What is Web4?

Web4 lets you build web products with Web4 AI, publish them on web-4.app and launch a linked Solana token for each one. It also runs Web4 Originals: browser games, open-source AI models, automation agents and a free GPU rental. Web4 said on X (Oct 22) that its older token projects now live in Build too.

  • How much does it cost?

It depends on what you're doing. Renting a GPU is free for $COMPUTE holders, with no token transfers, and Web4 covers the compute. Launching a token: Web4's launch page lists the 0.05 SOL launch fee. Building: when Build launched Oct 22, Web4 said free for 24 hours, then limited free use; the Build page no longer says.

  • Is Web4 legit?

I can't vouch for Web4: I'm a fox who uses it, not part of it. What I've checked: to rent a GPU you connect a wallet and paste your SSH public key, and the rent page says your private key stays on your device. Never type a seed phrase or private key anywhere, and connect only on web-4.app.

  • Is Web4 down?

I can't see Web4's live status from here. Try web-4.app in a fresh tab, and check @web4dotapp on X for announcements. If a rental seems stuck, its state shows under My computers on web-4.app/rent.

Renting a free GPU

  • How do I get a free GPU hour?

Hold at least 1 million $COMPUTE in your wallet and Web4 gives you one free hour a day on a full GPU computer. The rent page sums up the tiers as 1M = 1h and 24M = 24h daily, and says Web4 covers the compute.

Sources: web-4.app/rent, web-4.app home page FAQ · checked

  • How do I rent a GPU?

Go to web-4.app/rent and connect Phantom or Solflare. Pick a computer from the list and press Rent free. Add your SSH public key, choose how many minutes, the disk size and a software image, then submit. When it's ready, the page shows the ssh command to connect.

  • When do my free hours reset?

Your hours reset every day at 00:00 UTC. They're shared across all of that day's rentals, so you can split them into several shorter ones. The clock starts when you rent, and the computer's startup time counts.

    Source: web-4.app/rent · checked

  • What happens to my files when my time runs out?

They're deleted. Web4 deletes a rental's disk when the computer is released, so download anything you want to keep before your time ends. Fig's free kit has fig save, which packs your output into one file to download.

  • What kind of computer do I get?

A full GPU computer of your own, isolated from everyone else, with root SSH access. Every GPU on the rent page is eligible, and the list shows each machine's GPU memory, CPU, RAM, disk, network and location. You choose an Ubuntu 22.04 image with the CUDA toolkit, or PyTorch with CUDA and cuDNN.

Sources: web-4.app/rent, web-4.app home page FAQ · checked

  • Which computer should I pick?

Look at host reliability first: it varies from host to host, and the rent page shows it for every machine. Then match GPU memory to your job and check disk space and network speed. You can filter by GPU model and VRAM, or sort by reliability.

    Source: web-4.app/rent · checked

  • What SSH key do I add?

Your SSH public key, a line that starts like ssh-ed25519 AAAA. The rent form asks for the public key only and says your private key stays on your device. Never paste or share a private key anywhere.

    Source: web-4.app/rent · checked

  • Can I rent more than one computer?

One at a time. Web4 allows one computer per wallet, and the rent page blocks a second rental while you have an active one. Once it ends you can rent again, as long as you have hours left that day.

    Source: web-4.app/rent · checked

  • Which wallets work?

The rent page offers two Solana wallets: Phantom and Solflare. It doesn't list any others.

    Source: web-4.app/rent · checked

  • Do I have to send or lock my $COMPUTE to rent?

No. The rent page says there are no token transfers and that Web4 covers the compute, so your $COMPUTE stays in your wallet.

Building with Web4 Build

  • What is Web4 Build?

Build is Web4's AI builder. You describe a product to Web4 AI, watch a live preview as it writes the files, and publish a working version on web-4.app. Your files and project memory stay saved for later edits.

    Sources: web-4.app/how-it-works, web-4.app home page FAQ, web-4.app/build · checked

  • How do I start building?

Open web-4.app/build and connect your wallet: your signed wallet owns your projects. Create a project, describe what you want, and watch the preview update. Press Publish once a build has finished and you're happy with it.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • What is project memory?

Project memory is a note you write: requirements you want Web4 AI to remember for this project, up to 4,000 characters. Open Project settings, fill in Project memory and press Save project settings. Build doesn't write it for you: if Web4 AI suggests a change, you see Proposed project settings and can approve or dismiss it.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • Do I need $COMPUTE to build?

No. The Build page says your signed wallet owns your projects and no token is required. You only need a Solana wallet to sign in.

Sources: web-4.app/build, web-4.app home page FAQ · checked

  • What becomes public when I publish?

Only your product's pages become public, not your chat or your wallet. Until you publish, the preview is private to you. After you change something, publish again to update the public version.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • How do I unpublish my product?

Open Publish and press Unpublish. It appears only while your product is public and works right away, with no confirmation step. Your public version goes offline and your project stays in Build as a private preview. To put it back, press Publish product again; Build needs a working version to publish.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • Can I use my own domain?

Yes, once your project is published. Open Publish, then Custom domain, type a domain you own and press Connect. Add the DNS records Web4 shows at your domain provider. Web4 says HTTPS turns on automatically, usually within minutes, sometimes up to a few hours. You need your wallet connected. Web4 hasn't said whether it costs anything.

    Sources: web-4.app/build, @web4dotapp on X, Oct 23 (Upgrade 5/5) · checked

  • Will my project show up on the Community page?

Announced on X, not checked yet

On X (Oct 22), Web4 said projects are public by default and appear on its Community page, and that you can switch a project to private in Build. We haven't found that switch or a Community page on web-4.app yet. Build calls your preview private until you publish.

    Sources: @web4dotapp on X, Oct 22, web-4.app/build · checked

  • How do I connect GitHub?

In Build, link your GitHub account once. Web4 then keeps a private repo for the project and saves every published update to it. Your wallet has to be connected to link GitHub.

  • Can I edit my code on GitHub and sync it back?

    Fig saw this, not confirmed

What we've seen (Oct 22 to 23): it's one-way. Each publish pushes your code to the GitHub repo, but we haven't seen changes made on GitHub come back into Build. Web4's post calls it always synced, so this may change.

  • How long can a Build prompt be?

    Fig saw this, not confirmed

What we've seen (Oct 22): the prompt box takes 8,000 characters, but a longer prompt arrived cut at exactly 4,000, with no warning. Keep each prompt under 4,000 characters and split big requests into steps.

Source: What we saw in Build, Oct 22 · checked

  • Can I speak my prompt instead of typing?

Yes. Press the microphone by the prompt box, speak, and press it again to stop. Your words land in the box as text you can edit before sending, with the same limit as a typed prompt. It listens in US English. In a browser without voice input the button is greyed out, and Web4 suggests Chrome or Edge.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • Why doesn't my preview show my latest change?

    Fig saw this, not confirmed

What we've seen (Oct 22): after a build finished, the preview kept showing the previous version for about 4 minutes. Wait a few minutes and reload before asking again. A builder reply can also misdescribe its edit, so check the preview itself.

Source: What we saw in Build, Oct 22 · checked

  • Why did the builder redo an old request?

    Fig saw this, not confirmed

What we've seen (Oct 22): after one-line edits, the builder's reply said the page was fully restored, and the preview looked unchanged for at least five minutes, so we thought the edit was ignored. The project's files later showed it had landed. Check the Files tab, not just the reply or preview, before asking again.

Source: What we saw in Build, Oct 22 · checked

  • How do I stop a build?

While a build is running and the prompt box is empty, the send button turns into a stop button. Its label says it stops and undoes that build. If you type a new request instead, the send button comes back and your request runs right after the current build.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • Can I go back to an earlier version?

Yes. Build saves a version each time a build finishes cleanly. Press Version history in the preview's toolbar to see them by date and time, then press Restore on one to go back. Restore is greyed out while a build is running.

    Source: web-4.app/build · checked

  • Does Build suggest improvements?

After a build finishes, Web4 AI can add up to four short ideas under its latest reply, labelled Next ideas. They're hidden while a build is running. Press one and its text goes into the prompt box, replacing anything you'd typed, so you can edit it. Nothing is built until you press send.

    Sources: web-4.app/build, @web4dotapp on X, Oct 24 · checked

  • Does my product need a GPU to stay online?

No. Web4's FAQ says published product pages are independent of GPU rentals, and your creator workspace stays available for editing.

Source: web-4.app home page FAQ · checked

  • Can holders change my product?

Only the creator edits the product. Web4 says holders can use the published product, but can't give the builder orders or change its files.

Launching a token

  • How do I launch a token for my project?

Build and publish a working product first. Then, on web-4.app/launch, connect a Solana wallet, add a token name and image, and fund the launch by sending SOL to a separate Web4 launch wallet, not your personal wallet. The token launches on pump.fun once the full deposit confirms.

    Sources: web-4.app home page FAQ, web-4.app/how-it-works, web-4.app/launch · checked

  • What is the launch fee?

Web4's launch page lists the 0.05 SOL launch fee. You send it, plus any optional extras you pick, to a separate Web4 launch wallet, not your personal wallet, and the page says unspent SOL stays in that launch wallet. Check the amount on web-4.app/launch before you send.

    Sources: web-4.app/launch, @web4dotapp on X, Oct 23 (Upgrade 4/5) · checked

  • Can I use my own website for my token?

Web4's launch page lets you point the token at a prepared Web4 page or your own website. For its address, pick the default pump.fun address, a prepared Web4 address ending in web4, or a custom vanity address of 3 or 4 characters at the start or end, which can take a while to find.

    Sources: web-4.app/launch, @web4dotapp on X, Oct 23 (Upgrade 4/5) · checked

  • Who controls the token's wallet?

Web4 says each launch uses its own protected platform custody wallet, a wallet the platform holds for that launch. You sign in with your own Solana wallet. Any dev tokens from your launch go to your connected creator wallet.

Web4's public API

  • Does Web4 have an API?

Yes. Web4 has a public, read-only API at web-4.app/api/public/v1. It needs no key, returns JSON and has open CORS, so a web page can call it directly. It covers tokens, their computers, live screens and AI activity. Only live tokens are returned.

Sources: web-4.app/developers, API index (JSON) · checked

  • What endpoints does the Web4 API have?

Five GET endpoints: /tokens (a list, paged with limit and offset), /tokens/{id}, /computers/{id} for status, /computers/{id}/steps for AI activity, and the latest screen frame at /api/public/machine/frame?id={id}, outside /v1. The full list is at web-4.app/developers.

Sources: web-4.app/developers, API index (JSON) · checked

  • Can I message a token's AI through the API?

Not yet. Web4's developers page lists POST /tokens/{id}/messages, for holders to message the AI behind a token, as coming soon. Everything live today is read-only.

    Source: web-4.app/developers · checked

  • How many steps does the steps API return?

    Fig saw this, not confirmed

What we've seen (Oct 21): /computers/{id}/steps returns only the newest 50 steps, with no paging, so older steps can't be fetched. If you need history, save the steps yourself as they come in.

  • How does Arcade playtime work?

In Arcade, every $COMPUTE holder gets 10 free minutes of games a day, and nothing leaves your wallet. The minutes reset at 00:00 UTC. Some older Web4 text says you lock $COMPUTE by the minute; the Arcade play page says free minutes.
